Can you hang the washing out right now?
$0.99
What it does
One question: will it dry outside if you hang it now. One answer: yes, maybe or no, a score out of a hundred, and a line nobody asked for.
How it decides
The forecast comes from Apple Weather. The app scores the next six hours, because a load takes two to four hours to dry: three hours answers nothing, twelve hours is already a different day.
What dries laundry is not the temperature, it is how thirsty the air is. Temperature and humidity are folded into a single measure — how much more water the air can still absorb — and that one carries the most weight in the score. Wind, cloud cover and how long it stays dry make up the rest.
The rain rule
Rain within three hours is a flat no, and nothing compensates for it. Rain later is no longer a refusal, it is a deadline: hang it out by all means, you simply know what time you will have to bring it back in.
What is in it
- A home screen widget, in two sizes, to read the verdict without opening the app.
- The verdict read aloud, for when your hands are in the basket.
- Eleven languages, each written on its own terms rather than translated.
- Over six thousand different lines, drawn without repeating themselves.
- The last forecast received is kept on the phone, so the app still shows something with no network.
What it does not do
It does not predict the weather: it reads a public forecast and scores it. It is not a professional meteorological service, and it does not replace a look out of the window. It just has a firmer opinion.
No account, no ads, no tracking, no notifications, nothing to set up. If you decline location access, the app falls back to a city you pick yourself and keeps working.
